Guðmundur Fertram
↪ Kerecis
Fertram is an Entrepreneur & Inventor, Unicorn Founder, Technology Evangelist & Oceans Advocate. Having founded and served as CEO of companies in financial technology and renewable energy, he went on to found and is currently the CEO of Kerecis, a biotechnology company that uses fish skin to heal human wounds.
Fertram was named an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2021, Entrepreneur of the Year in Iceland in 2015, and Businessperson of the Year in Iceland in 2023. In 2024, he received the Export Achievement Award from the President of Iceland. Kerecis received the Icelandic Growth Symposium award for the fastest-growing company in Iceland in 2017 and 2020, as well as the Nordic Scale-Up Award in 2023. Kerecis became Iceland’s first unicorn in 2023 when it was sold to Denmark-based Coloplast for $1.3 billion.
He has received several innovation awards, including the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Awards from the President of Iceland in 2015 and 2018. Fertram and the technologies he has developed have been featured in Bloomberg and other media. With over 200 issued and pending patents, Fertram is one of Iceland’s most prolific inventors.
Fertram earned a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Iceland and an M.Eng. from the Technical University of Denmark.
Fertram is an advocate of the beauty and fragility of the oceans.
Margrét Ormslev Ásgeirsdótti

Margrét holds a B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering and M.Sc. in Economics from the University of Iceland as well as an M.Sc. in Renewable Energy Systems and Policies from the School of Renewable Energy Science. Margrét is Head of Operations at Transition Labs, a private climate initiative that partners with high impact climate projects from around the world. Previous positions include senior management roles at Carbon Recycling International and Partner at Brunnur Ventures in addition to advising on business development, corporate finance, corporate banking, and corporate restructuring at Landsbankinn. Margrét has served on numerous boards, both in the private and public sector.

David Simonarson is the CEO and co-founder of Smitten, a next-gen dating app that blends dating, social, and gaming. With over a decade of experience in building consumer apps, he has successfully led Smitten through multiple funding rounds and strategic expansions, driving innovation in the online dating space.
Heini Zachariassen
↪ Vivino
Heini is Vivino’s Founder, Chairman, and Chief Evangelist. Credited with bringing a technology revolution to the wine industry, Heini founded Vivino because he was frustrated by not knowing which wine to buy. It’s been his passion project ever since. During his tenure as CEO, Vivino grew into a community of 60 million users, raised $221 million in funding, and rolled out a worldwide wine marketplace. Before starting Vivino, Heini co-founded several startups and was a part of building global internet and mobile security company BullGuard. Heini, who was named Entrepreneur of the Year by GP Bullhound in 2020. Heini and Vivino’s story is featured in an independent documentary, “Disrupting Wine, The Life of an Entrepreneur.” Heini also hosts the YouTube series Raw Startup, which offers candid advice for entrepreneurs and startups.
Adam Gordon

Adam Roy Gordon is a corporate sustainability expert and CEO of GlacialEdge Advisory, where he advises corporate leaders on strategy, regulation, and risk. As the founding Executive Director of UN Global Compact USA, he built it into a driving force in the U.S. market, aligning businesses with global sustainability goals. He has worked with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), CDP, and Fortune 500 companies, shaping corporate climate action. A recognized thought leader, Adam has been named to the Environment + Energy Leader 100 and contributes to The Atlantic. He lectures at Columbia University’s Climate School, mentoring the next generation of sustainability leaders. His work bridges executive leadership, global impact, and academia to help businesses navigate sustainability’s most pressing challenges.
Guðfinnur Sveinsson

CEO of Brineworks, he has spent the past decade working on climate solutions—investing in climate tech, founding an environmental NGO, and contributing through research and writing. He holds an MPA from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) and conducted climate policy research at the Earth Institute. Now, he leads Brineworks in pioneering CO2 extraction from seawater to accelerate the scale-up of sustainable e-fuel production.
Bodil Sidén

Bodil Sidén is General Partner at Copenhagen based Kost Capital, an early-stage VC with the mission to bring Better food for more people. Kost Capital invests in ingredients and enabling tech across Europe and does in-house company building together with the food development house Kost Studio. Among Kost’s investments are REST, Numi and Foreverland Foods.

Destana Herring

Destana Herring is a Principal at Regeneration.VC and part of the firm’s founding team. He managed the investment analysis of fourteen of Fund 1's investments and both of Fund 2's recent investments. As a vocal Board Observer, Destana supports Meridia, an early-stage agro-commodity technology company empowering smallholder coffee and cocoa farmers across the Global South. For his perspective as an emerging ClimateTech investor, he's been featured at GreenBiz Circularity conference, VivaTech, Mashup in Malmö, TechBBQ, Grist, and more. Destana is based in Copenhagen, where he leads the firm’s activities across the Nordics.

Thea Messel is the Founder and General Partner of Unconventional Ventures, the first impact fund in Europe dedicated to investing in underrepresented founders building scalable impact. The firm backs pre-seed and seed-stage startups led by women, people of color, and LGBTQ+ founders who are building scalable businesses with impact at their core. Unconventional Ventures focuses on Climate, Health, Education, and Equitable Tech, capitalizing on the intersection of diversity and impact to drive exceptional returns and set new standards in venture capital. Before founding Unconventional Ventures, Thea created and led initiatives supporting tech and impact startups, as well as accelerator programs across the Nordics and China. Working a decade in Banking she has played a key role in advancing impact investing, sustainable finance, and diversity in venture capital, contributing to new financial products, investment frameworks and impact strategies. She holds an MSc in International Business and a BSc in Philosophy and Economics from Copenhagen Business School.

Dóra Júlía is a DJ and cultural journalist for Vísir, one of Iceland’s biggest online publications. She studied art theory and philosophy at the University of Iceland and started DJing shortly after graduating. In the last seven years she has performed all over the world and during Covid she also went into journalism where her main focus is interviews regarding culture, music, arts and fashion along with broadcast programming where she hosts a talk show and series about fashion and culture.

Lilja Dögg Jónsdóttir

Lilja D. Jonsdottir is the CEO of Almannarómur, Iceland´s center for language technology. Previously Lilja served as a policy advisor to Iceland´s Prime Minister where she co-authored Iceland’s current AI policy and worked on topics related to business, innovation, and technology. Lilja has served in leadership roles at Icelandic-Japanese firm Takanawa, and at both Burning Glass Technologies and Redstar Ventures in the United States.
Lilja is an Economist from the University of Iceland and holds an MBA degree from Harvard Business School.
Arelys Sosa

Arelys Sosa is the CEO and Co-Founder of DREV, a company pioneering contamination control technology for advanced manufacturing, protecting people, driving industrial efficiency, and recovering critical metals. An accomplished industrial engineer, she has managed multi-million-dollar projects across Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Argentina, and the United States, demonstrating her expertise in large-scale manufacturing and global business operations.
Before founding DREV, Arelys was part of the founding team at Panasonic Energy of North America at Tesla’s Gigafactory 1, where she played a key role in scaling battery production. Her leadership reflects a commitment to industry innovation and growth, as she actively applies her expertise to drive progress in the field.
Mette Louise V. Carstensen

Mette cofounded Augmented Hearing in 2021 to innovate AI-based speech enhancement, focusing on real-time solutions where clear speech is critical. She worked on audiological technologies at Oticon and led digital transformation initiatives at McKinsey Digital. She holds a degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark, specializing in Machine Learning, Psychoacoustics, and auditory signal processing. She recently implemented a speech enhancement solution in Iceland’s emergency line, enabling them to better be able to help citizens calling 112 from chaotic emergency situations.
Sissel Hansen

Sissel Hansen is the founder of Startup Guide, a creative media company best known for its "Startup Guide" book series—often referred to as the Lonely Planet for entrepreneurs—featuring more than over 70 cities since its beginning in 2014.She recently co-launched City Solutions, a platform connecting cities and innovators to accelerate sustainable urban transformation. It’s a joint venture between Startup Guide and Urban Impact.
Sissel also co-founded the NGO Impact the Future, which unites public and private sectors to drive urban solutions, and she has served on various boards, including Denmark’s Green Entrepreneurship Council and Danish Tech Startups. Her work has earned her numerous recognitions, including a nomination for Female Entrepreneur of the Year (2015), and being named a Nordic Ecosystem Hero (2018) and one of Europe’s most influential women in startups and VC by EU-Startups.
Lóa Hlín Hjálmtýsdóttir

Lóa Hjálmtýsdóttir works as a writer, artist, performer and illustrator. Her comics alter ego is called Lóaboratoríum and researches human behavior without coming to a conclusion. Lóa grew up in an ugly suburb of Reykjavík in the 90´s. She graduated with a BFA degree in Fine Arts from the Icelandic Academy of the Arts, studied Illustration in Parson’s New School for Design in NYC and graduated with a MA degree in Creative Writing from the University of Iceland. Since 2005 she’s also been travelling and performing with her band FM Belfast around the world and figuring out what’s the best way to pack illustration tools for long trips. From 2009, Lóa was a part time teacher at the Icelandic Academy of the Arts, The Reykjavik School of Visual Arts and taught comic and idea courses in various libraries and art museums in Iceland. She is very interested in teaching scared adults to write stories and draw freely but has given up on teaching for a while. At the moment she is doing one comic a day for a whole year.
