Every year, “Ok, bye” chooses a different theme to inspect under the microscope.
The theme 2025 is:
Science
This year, we step into the laboratory of climate action to investigate the science, technology, and innovations driving solutions to the climate crisis. With a microscope in hand and research goggles firmly in place, we analyze groundbreaking discoveries and data-backed advancements that hold the key to a sustainable future. From carbon sequestration to afforestation, seaweed farming to renewable energy, we experiment with the boldest ideas and test their impact on the global ecosystem. Every participant becomes an inventor in this collaborative experiment. Venture capitalists backing climate startups, corporations making sustainable changes, and entrepreneurs incubating their next great idea all play crucial roles. Together, we embody the hypothesis that research-backed decisions and innovation can turn the tide against climate change.
We invite you to Iceland, where wild ideas and daring hypotheses are incubated in a creative petri dish of collaboration. At this year’s Ok, bye, we will don our lab coats and safety goggles to make bold experiments and groundbreaking discoveries, cultivating new means to solve the climate crisis.
We work closely with our main partners at Climeworks and Transition Labs to collaborate on the highest-impact climate projects from around the globe and to establish Iceland as a hub of climate innovation and knowledge sharing. These partnerships enable us to foster a spirit of teamwork and shared knowledge. Together, we amplify the reach of innovative solutions and strengthen the foundation for a sustainable future.
The name Ok, bye honors Ok-jökull, the first Icelandic glacier lost to climate change. Once spanning 16 square kilometers, it has melted into a fraction of its former glory, no longer a glacier but a stark reminder of what’s at stake.
Thanks, global warming.
